Red Sox Nation

For months Bostonians, New Englanders, folks from all over the US and the world have been glued to the various media outlets watching the Red Sox become the 2007 World Series Champions.

What draws and motivates millions of fans to partake in this 8 month love affair from spring training to the World Series? Is it the players, the game, a sense of pride, the smell of popcorn and peanuts, Fenway Franks, getting free furniture if you bought before a certain date, ice cold beer in plastic cups, and a great manager like Terry Francona who believed in all his players, even when some of them were challenged?

What makes people want to be part of Red Sox Nation? I think its many things, but perhaps most important is the sense of belonging to a community ~ a community of believers and dreamers. Simply put…The Red Sox love their fans, the fans love their Red Sox. For the Red Sox and its faithful…its all about hard work, creating, dreaming, navigating, encouraging, providing opportunities, taking risks, and celebrating as a team.

Reminds me of FableVision Nation…

Beautifully said, Bill. It is nice to be a part of a different kind of community….a group not hindered by geographic distance, who have a shared vision of what education CAN become. As a public school teacher, sometimes I feel fairly well beaten up by the press and the public. Here, in the safety of FableVision Nation, I can share the dreams for the kids in my room every day and share the things that have worked for me in the hopes they will work for someone else, or perhaps spur someone to a new idea. Best of all, I can share my passion for a company with such strong and wonderful leadership who KNOW how to support me in my classroom!

I am afraid the two-hundred year mission may not be enough! Long live FableVision. Bless you all for what you do for us!

Bill, as I was reading through your post, what came to my mind was “North Star Nation”… so I had to smile when I got to the end to read that “Red Sox Nation” reminds you of “FableVision Nation”. Of course, The North Star is the cornerstone of FableVision… its philosophy about education, and about being… and approaching life… so no wonder it came to my mind… as FableVision Nation came to yours. Virtually interchangable. That’s why so many FableVision products support The North Star Approach… and The North Star classroom.

At any rate, I agree with you and Terry that it really is amazing to be part of something so wonderful… such a great group that is so much more than a “group”… an inspiring gathering of like-minded people who are eager to keep going further… beyond the boundaries… hungry to learn more, as we continue to help children reach their own stars… and make their own dreams come true.
